This talk was given at the recent R.D. Laing symposium at Asilomar. I shared my personal story of an encounter with extreme states, and talked about how compassionate loving support can bring hope and healing in even the most difficult experiences.

To Michael Cornwall,
Just a brief comment about your article on a medical curse.
17 years ago, a government agency published a “document” proclaiming I had PTSD. It was published to my employer and 2 licensing boards, an insurance company, and 3 hospitals I worked at as well as the DEA.
After the publication, I became unemployed as a direct result of the publication.
Prior to the publication I was in the top 1% of wage earners. Since the publication, I’ve been in the bottom 1%. All because of a wrongful publication. Even after removing the publication from my record, I’ve been unable to revers the damage caused.
